Jacob asked about the red pepper flakes I had sitting next to me. To Jayson's horror, I had added them to the shrimp, cherry tomato, basil, parmesan pasta dinner he served us. It was delicious, regardless of the additional spice :) But this simple question inspired me to ask him what he smelled. What was the difference in smell between the red pepper flakes and the cracked black pepper?
"It smells like the ashes of a cigarette after it's been put out," he said of the red pepper flakes. As sad as I was that he knows that the ashes of a cigarette smell like well enough to identify that "flavor" in other scents, it pleased me, tickled me, that a five-year old boy would be mature enough to identify that! It was a fun lesson about spices, and it reminded me of how very smart that little boy is.
I knew what cigarettes smelled like when I was a kiddo and I turned out just fine! Actually, because my parents smoked I find them terribly revolting. Perhaps the same will happen to Jacob- its not always a curse :)

Also, anyone who practices yoga is a yogi silly girl!!!! Even if you practice once or twice a year. If you think about yoga- the mind body connection just about everyday (which I KNOW you do!) you are a yogini. And jewels my dear, whether you like it or not you ARE one ;)
